Q: What’s a skill or area of expertise you’ve developed during your junior year, and how do you plan to apply it in the future?

A: During my junior year of high school, I learned to work with clay and even made a small Hello Kitty figurine, which unfortunately broke when I tried to lift it off the table. If I ever get the chance to work with clay again, I’d love to try remaking the figurine to see if my skills have improved.

Q: Describe a memorable experience you’ve had while volunteering or serving your community this year, and how has it shaped your perspective?

A: One of the most memorable experiences I had while volunteering was when my friends and I went to the Central Florida Fairgrounds for Light Orlando to pack roughly 500,000 meals for families and communities facing food insecurity. While the task was challenging, the people I was with made the process much smoother and more fulfilling.

Q: Who is a friend or peer you’ve grown closer to this year, and what qualities do they possess that you admire?

A: A friend I’ve grown closer to this year is Ariya Shuler, a student I’ve known since middle school through mutual friends. We share common interests in music and fashion, and without a doubt, it’s her sense of style that I admire most.

Q: Looking ahead to your senior year, what’s one goal you’re determined to accomplish, and what steps are you taking to achieve it?

A: This may sound silly and unrealistic, but I’m determined to own a pink Volkswagen Beetle so I can add hibiscus flower decals on both sides. To make this dream come true, I’ll need to get a part-time job first…
